In St. Petersburg, staff from the Investigative Committee opened an inspection after threats were directed at the wife of a person tied to a private military operation. The department’s Telegram channels reported the incident, noting that officials treated the matter with seriousness as part of ongoing attention to threats against private security personnel and their families.

The committee stated that a man in St. Petersburg used social media to threaten his wife and insult her, which prompted police to intervene. After officers arrived, the man reportedly tried to evade capture. The episode prompted officials to examine online activity and public behavior related to groups connected with private security work, as part of broader efforts to deter harassment and intimidation.

In response, inspectors launched a formal audit under Article 213 of the Russian Penal Code, which addresses hooliganism. President Alexander Bastrykin ordered regular progress updates on the audit and clear reporting on the conditions identified during the inquiry.

Earlier, reports described a confrontation near a shopping center in Novorossiysk, where two men assaulted a participant in a private military operation. Eyewitnesses said the PMO participant and his spouse were at the mall when a stranger asked for a lighter. Finding none, the exchange grew tense and escalated into a physical clash as a second man joined the altercation. The attackers appeared unmoved by the fact that they were opposing a PMO member.

The Krasnodar region’s Ministry of Internal Affairs directorate said police officers are conducting a probe to determine all circumstances surrounding the incident. Investigators are collecting statements, reviewing surveillance footage, and assessing any potential ties to regional security concerns.

Earlier in Russia, guidelines were published concerning the spouses of private military personnel, reflecting ongoing attention to the personal safety and social dynamics surrounding armed groups and their families.
