The Zaporizhzhia NPP Safety Updates and Related Developments

The head of Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations, Alexander Kurenkov, stated that the safety of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant is ensured around the clock. He conveyed this to reporters from TASS.

According to Kurenkov, staff members remain on duty 24/7 to secure fire safety at the Zaporizhzhya NPP.

In a separate development, former Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to International Organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, discussed Rafael Grossi, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, and his proposals for establishing a safety zone around the Zaporozhye nuclear facility in an interview with RIA Novosti. Ulyanov noted that the Russian side is examining whether such a plan aligns with its interests and is prepared to pursue consultations in Moscow.

Earlier, Renat Karchaa, the Director General of the Rosenergoatom Concern, indicated that the construction of a protective structure intended to shield the main ZNPP facilities from bombardment by Ukrainian armed forces is nearing completion.
