The countdown is nearly complete for The Purple Network to debut on Atresplayer. Following the success of Gypsy Bride, the Atresmedia platform confirmed that an audiovisual adaptation of Carmen Mola’s second novel is in the works this Thursday and will premiere next Sunday, October 8.
Actress Nerea Barros steps back into Elena Blanco’s shoes, the senior homicide investigator at BAC. Blanco has spent years chasing the truth about her son Lucas, who was abducted a decade ago. A chilling torture video, where she is urged to abandon the search, briefly surfaces and stirs a hornet’s nest, but Elena channels that pressure into a renewed push forward on the case and a fresh investigation into what Miguel Vistas left behind, a thread known as The Purple Network.
Purple Network assembles a new cadre of players for fresh schemes, including Roberto Alamo (Dimas), Carmen Prada (Sea), Nuria González (Rocío Narváez), Andrés Gertrudix (Chaste), Maria Morales (Loneliness), Michel Herráiz (Daniel), Font Garcia (Albert), Unai Swimsuit (Luke), Andrés Lima (Cortabarria), Maria Mercado (Aurora) and Hugo Prieto (Luca’s child), among others.
Gines Garcia Millan (Tenant), Ignacio Montes (Zárate), Mona Martinez (Mariajo), Lucia Martin Abello (Cheska), Vicente Romero (Orduño) and Francesc Garrido (Buendía) continue in the roles they established in La Novia Gitana, connecting the dots between the two stories.
The series is produced by Paramount Television International Studios with participation from Atresmedia Television and collaboration from Cross (Banijay Iberia). It is presented as a Spain-exclusive production, yet international audiences can access it through Atresplayer International, depending on regional availability.
Directing the project is Paco Cabezas, with Juan Miguel del Castillo also contributing to the creative helm. Executive producers include Montse García, Paco Cabezas, Jordi Frades, Jaume Banacolocha, Albert Sagalés, Darío Turovelzky, Sebastián Vibes, María Cervera and Cristina Alcelay. The series’ scripting is led by José Rodríguez, assisted by Antonio Mercero, Susana Martín Gijón, Carmen Jiménez and Daniel Sánchez Arranz. Laura García serves as production director, while Andreu Adam and Víctor Benavides handle cinematography. Guillermo Spoltore is the art director, and Miguel Ángel Trudu oversees editing. Zeltia Montes composes the score. Paramount Global Content Distribution handles distribution beyond Spain.
Additionally, Elena Blanco’s story arc will continue to unfold in future installments. The platform indicated last July that a third installment, La nena, is in development, adapting Carmen Mola’s third novel and expanding the saga’s reach for devoted fans.
Inspector Elena Blanco discovers her son Lucas is alive but has fallen under the sway of the sinister Purple Network, a revelation she once anticipated before the dramatic events surrounding Vistas. Six months pass, and Blanco has kept the truth from her team, confiding only in Mariajo, her most trusted ally.
The BAC endures consequences after being entangled in the Macaya case, leading to a reassignment to a different ship. With limited tools, they must rely on the remains of a fragile network to navigate a world where kidnapped minors, exploited women, and trafficked goods fuel a dark industry—buyers pay, statuses rise, and victims keep suffering as the cycle spins on.
Intervening in this perilous space carries a heavy price. The team faces risks that could permanently alter their dynamics, with the looming threat that their choices could cost more than they can bear as they venture into the hidden depths of the deep web.
