A National Police operation in Palma de Mallorca addressed a troubling family situation involving a Spanish woman accused of seriously mistreating her four children, aged 3 to 14. Reports indicate the children endured insults, aggression, and neglect, with some cases so severe that schooling was interrupted. The investigation began after a minor expressed intentions to harm herself, signaling urgent danger within the home.
The distressing condition of the children came to light on a Sunday following a report from the National Police and a prior 091 call describing an intent to self-harm by a minor. Police officers from the Citizen Security Brigade were dispatched to assess the scene and ensure the children’s safety.
At the residence, investigators spoke with the 18-year-old sister of the family. She revealed that the younger siblings had asked to contact their father because the child did not want to continue living with their mother and threatened self-harm. This information prompted further scrutiny of the household conditions and the well-being of all four children.
Authorities learned that since the parents separated, the four children had been living with their mother. The children reportedly faced ongoing mistreatment and neglect. None of the siblings regularly attended school, signaling disrupted daily routines and limited access to education and support services.
Two older brothers were described as assuming responsibility for the younger children’s care and household chores during the mother’s extended absences. This arrangement appeared to place additional strain on the family dynamics and the children’s safety.
The alleged abuse included verbal assaults and humiliation directed at the children upon their return home, along with repeated physical attacks. The pattern of behavior contributed to a severely unsafe living environment and raised serious concerns about the children’s mental and physical health.
With these findings, the National Police coordinated with the Family and Women’s Unit UFAM to conduct a formal inquiry. Officers documented statements from multiple family members and other individuals in the support network, compiling evidence to clarify the facts surrounding the alleged abuse and neglect.
Subsequently, the woman was taken into custody and transported to the Palma Police Department for questioning. The case is being handled through the appropriate legal and protective channels to safeguard the children and determine accountability for the alleged mistreatment.
