The Cheryomushkinsky Court in Moscow has ordered house arrest for a leading figure in the unofficial youth group known as PMC Redan, who stands accused of assaulting a fellow student in the capital’s subway system. This development was reported by TASS.
The court stated that the minor defendant was placed under house arrest in accordance with Part 2 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which relates to hooliganism carried out with weapons or objects used as weapons.
Court officials noted that investigators had requested detention for the accused, yet the judge opted for a more humane restriction pending investigation. In the same decision, three other minors involved in the alleged incident were also ordered to house arrest.
On the evening of February 23, a group of young people attacked a teenager born in 2008 in the lobby of the Lubyanka metro station and dispersed pepper spray in his face. Four individuals were detained after a rapid pursuit by authorities.
Earlier, police conducted searches at the Aviapark shopping center and several other Moscow malls as part of the operation. Law enforcement agencies have been detaining individuals associated with the Redan PMC movement who reportedly did not attend a scheduled meeting with the Central Bank at a food court the previous week, which led to clashes at multiple venues around the city. Redan members are often identified by distinctive spider-themed prints on their clothing, plaid pants, and dark hair, according to the authorities.
The case has drawn attention to clashes at public venues and the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to curb violence linked to youth groups. Authorities emphasize that investigations are continuing to establish the full scope of the incident, identify all participants, and determine their roles. Reports from state agencies and news agencies, including TASS, have provided ongoing updates as new details emerge and official statements are released to the public.
