The Second Circuit of Las Palmas County Court handed down a 27-year prison sentence to a man found guilty of continuing sexual assaults and abuse against the two underage daughters of his partner in Gran Tarajal, Fuerteventura. The court also ordered him to pay 40,000 euros in compensation to the affected mother and the victims. It was decreed that he cannot work with minors for 29 years and must stay away from one of the victims for 19 years, with the distance to the other victim set at a similarly lengthy term of 14 years.
The criminal acts spanned from 2011 to 2016 in the region. One daughter was born in 2003 and the other in 2005. During this period, the man repeatedly exploited his position to prey on the young girls while their mother was away and while the girls were not under the care of their family home. He compelled one girl to perform oral sex on him, as detailed in the court’s judgment. When the girl resisted, he seized her by the neck or hair and forced her mouth open. He carried out this act with such force that it caused a lip injury.
Additionally, the defendant touched every part of the girls’ bodies, including their genital areas, for his sexual purposes. He demanded that the victims touch him, grasping their hands to explore his body, and even forced them to touch his genitals and masturbate while the victims expressed clear refusal. He also compelled the victims to watch pornographic material in his company.
In the same period, the accused forced his partner’s other daughter to apply cream to her entire body while she was naked in bed at the same address, and for the same purpose. To override the minor’s opposition, he grabbed her wrists and forced her to touch his genitals. He even rubbed his erect state against the girl’s body during a shower together.
Throughout these years, the defendant, who held significant influence over the girls, often exercised coercive authority. He assaulted the victims on multiple occasions using visible force, striking parts of their bodies such as the face, arms, and hips, and at times grabbing one of them by the neck.
The courts heard that the perpetrator made demeaning remarks toward the girls, labeling them as “less than normal” or “useless.” The session described how these incidents created a climate of fear in the girls, making them hesitate to report the abuse to their mother or resist his advances out of concern for the consequences they might face.
The victims, as a result of these extensive patterns of violence, experienced declines in academic performance, and one of the girls suffered facial paralysis. The broader impact on both children and their sister was a lasting psychological burden, with ongoing effects on their well-being and development.
