The Civil Guard is examining the violent death of a man inside an apartment in the town of Trevías in Valdes. The leading suspect is the property owner, a Madrid resident who has lived in the town for about a year and previously worked as a taxi driver in Luarca. The incident is believed to have occurred in the early hours of the morning after neighbors heard a loud argument on the ground floor, and soon after the alleged killer appeared on the street, bloodied, informing the authorities. Word of this event spread quickly through Trevión, with a notably strong police presence deployed in this otherwise quiet community, underscoring the seriousness of the case.
The principal suspect was initially taken to the courthouse for evaluation. He was transported to Jarrio Hospital to have injuries on his face and body assessed. At present, he remains in custody as investigators complete the inquiry, with plans for a formal court appearance once the process moves forward, following his transfer to the Civil Guard barracks in Luarca.
The deceased man, who had lived for some time in the village of Balsera in Valdes, was involved in a dramatic pursuit at dawn. A Civil Guard patrol stopped him at a routine checkpoint, and when asked to exit the vehicle, he allegedly struck an officer and fled into nearby woodland. Since then, he has remained at large, with authorities pointing to the possibility that the suspect took shelter in his apartment, where he was found dead in the morning. This sequence has intensified the investigation, prompting a thorough review of all potential connections to criminal activity linked to drug trafficking and related networks.
The Civil Guard has not ruled out any investigative approach as the inquiry continues. Throughout the morning, several patrols secured the building entrance in the central area of Valdes, where the homicide occurred. The body, removed from the scene after the initial forensics, was taken to the Oviedo Institute of Forensic Medicine around one o’clock in the afternoon for autopsy and analysis. The investigation is led by the Organic Division of the Oviedo Civil Guard Command Judicial Police, coordinating closely with local authorities to establish a clear timeline and establish any possible links to organized crime and drug distribution networks while ensuring all procedural steps align with legal standards of evidence collection.
