The fourth edition of The Champions Burger, a gastronomic festival where consumers name the best hamburger, will visit Alicante from today, March 30, to April 9. It is located in the Volvo area, at the Levante pier.

This year The Champions Burger introduces two innovations that broaden its international appeal.

  • To crown the best burger in Europe, ten hamburger restaurants from different European countries will participate, giving the championship a global character.

  • Seven pre-events will be held in various Spanish cities to select the tastiest burgers that will advance to the Champions Burger final.

After Alicante, the championship opens in Castellón and then continues through the Community of Madrid, Zaragoza, Seville, Bilbao, and Valencia.

The people of Alicante will choose the best hamburger in the province

Admission is free for visitors to explore up to 18 food trucks and hamburger stalls running from today, March 30, to April 9. The venue opens at 12:00, and attendees can sample a wide range of gourmet burgers, from classic to bold, innovative, and authorial creations. These burgers feature certified meats, artisan breads, and fresh ingredients, all in one place. There is also a dedicated children’s area for younger guests.

To accompany the burgers, Tucán Roll offers nachos, tequeños, and fried chicken, while the Ybarra truck serves French fries. Dessert lovers can indulge in Pops’n Bops ice cream.

The Champions Burger stands out because the audience votes on the crowd’s favorite hamburger. The voting process is straightforward and consistent throughout the event. Attendees simply taste a burger, scan the QR code on their ticket at the point of order, and rate it.

Three hamburger restaurants with the highest scores from each participant’s evaluations—based on bread, meat, and ingredient pairing—will advance to the Champions Burger final. The year 2023 is cited as a reference point for past performance.

The finalists, including European and Spanish burger brands, selected by consumers across seven cities, will compete in a grand finale at the Ciutat de València football stadium in July. The winner will be crowned Europe’s Best Hamburger.

Previous editions and success

The Champions Burger has grown into a high-profile event in the catering world, drawing a dedicated following as the concept evolves with more vendors and greater emphasis on variety and quality. In recent editions, attendance surpassed 250,000 visitors across 2018, 2019, and 2022, with the festival becoming known for its vibrant atmosphere, live music, and strong culinary energy.

In the 2022 edition, Valencia-based restaurant Jenkin’s claimed the title with a standout burger featuring Black Angus beef, smoked cheddar, caramelized onions, bacon, pickles, and a Korean-style sauce, earning recognition as one of the best in the lineup.

Additional details and updates are provided by event organizers and official coverage as the festival progresses.
