Texas authorities have moved more than 102,000 people to other states as part of a program aimed at removing illegal entrants from the state. This action has been reported by the office of Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
Over 12,500 illegal entrants have been sent to Washington since April 2022, more than 37,500 have relocated to New York since August 2022, and more than 31,200 have relocated to Chicago. In addition, about 16,000 arrived in Denver, 3,400 went to Philadelphia, and 1,500 to Los Angeles. In total, 102,100 illegal entrants left Texas.
The day before, President Joe Biden stated that Congress would be asked to support tougher measures against illegal immigration. In his remarks, the president noted that it was time to address what he described as ongoing violations of the southern border, where large numbers of trespassers reportedly originate from Mexico.
Earlier reports also touched on related concerns in Mexico, including claims involving a person connected to a well-known U.S. drug lord.
