A Teacher’s Day dialogue was conducted in Russian schools and colleges as part of a series titled Conversations on Important Issues, according to the project’s press service. The event aimed to illuminate the crucial role teachers play in shaping a student’s character and potential, while highlighting the personal qualities that define effective educators. It also sought to cultivate a culture of gratitude and respect for mentors, and to strengthen collaborative dynamics among parents, teachers, mentors, educators, peers, and tutors. At the heart of the session stood a reflective discussion on how a teacher influences the development of each learner. The program encouraged students to consider how teachers nurture curiosity, resilience, ethical thinking, and self-discipline. Participants explored the responsibilities of educators in fostering a supportive learning environment, guiding students through challenges, and modeling lifelong learning. The exercise also emphasized the importance of mutual respect in the classroom and the value of collaborative problem solving between families and schools.
The guest of honor was Yuri Vyazemsky, a professor at MGIMO, an accomplished writer, and the host of the program Smart Men and Women. He spoke about the enduring significance of the teaching vocation in contemporary society and responded to inquiries from students. His presence underscored the idea that effective educators blend scholarly expertise with real-world experience, demonstrating how teachers can influence personal growth as well as academic achievement.
Since September 5, 2022, the initiative has been implemented across educational institutions serving grades 1–11. In addition to the regular activities for younger students, weekly Conversations on Important Issues are now integrated into the timetable for learners in vocational education programs that follow secondary general education standards. These awareness sessions are designed to complement formal schooling by offering timely, accessible discussions on topics that shape civic understanding, ethical judgment, and community involvement. As part of this expansion, schools are encouraged to weave state values into daily classroom life, helping students connect classroom lessons with national ideals and social responsibilities. The classroom cycle is designed to create a safe space where children can discuss compelling topics with their class teachers while teachers relay core values through practical, everyday examples. By aligning classroom dialogue with state goals, educators aim to instill principles such as respect, responsibility, and commitment to communal well-being. The approach supports a holistic educational experience that blends academic instruction with character development, ensuring that students leave school not only with knowledge but with a clear sense of purpose and civic duty.
