A taxi driver detained after allegedly assaulting and robbing a drunken passenger in Moscow, according to the police press service. The incident prompted a formal investigation by law enforcement authorities.
The clash began when a 34-year-old man, clearly intoxicated, entered the cab driven by a 44-year-old driver. A dispute escalated during the ride, culminating in the driver reportedly striking the passenger and assaulting him in the head. The assailant then took the victim’s mobile phone, left the scene near the 60th Anniversary of October Boulevard, and disappeared from sight.
Concerned bystanders called for emergency medical help. Paramedics transported the injured man to a hospital, where his current condition remains to be clarified by medical staff.
Authorities swiftly opened an investigation into the confrontation, leading to the detention of the cab driver. Charges of theft have been filed in connection with the stolen phone.
