A taxi driver exploited a young passenger by asking to be transferred, using that moment to harass her. He touched the victim’s private parts with sexual intent and exposed his genitals, actions that prompted a criminal investigation for sexual abuse of a minor. The National Police took up the case under a formal charge of sexual abuse involving a minor.
The National Police, through the Family and Women’s Attention Unit (Ufam), began the inquiry after the mother and daughter visited their office last Saturday to file a complaint. The incident is believed to have occurred earlier that day.
The minor had decided to call a taxi service the previous Saturday after obtaining the driver’s number when she had first used the service in May. She had provided her name and contact number so she could reach the driver again if necessary.
En route to the agreed destination, the taxi driver invited the minor to sit in the front seat and offered her two kisses as a greeting. From that moment, he began making repeated comments about her appearance, attempting to flatter and provoke her with increasingly inappropriate remarks.
Over the drive, the conversation escalated with subtle, escalating innuendos that carried sexual undertones. The minor felt uncomfortable, yet the driver continued, maintaining control of the situation while the vehicle moved through the streets.
At a crucial moment, the passenger realized that the driver had touched her intimate parts against her will and, in a further violation, showed his genitals to her. The minor felt a surge of fear and confusion, recognizing the seriousness of what was happening.
The victim repeatedly asked the driver to stop, but he ignored her pleas until the taxi stopped near her home, allowing her to leave the vehicle. She was visibly shaken and frightened that the driver might become more aggressive if confronted directly on the street. She informed her mother of the incident immediately after returning home, and they decided to file a formal complaint with authorities.
Ufam agents initiated a thorough investigation to gather evidence and understand the sequence of events. After collecting testimonies and reviewing the available information, authorities proceeded to detain the suspect, who now faces charges related to sexual offenses against a minor.
