This edition of Survivors has people talking, and though the contestants have spent a week at Cayos Cochinos, they seem to be missing a surprising number of essential survival tools. The main issue remains: they failed to light a fire at both Playa Condena and Playa Olimpo.
On the program Lets see, hosted by Joaquín Prat, a collaborator commented that Marta Lopez offered revelations about the show that hadn’t been known until now. For example, Big Brother explained that contestants aren’t allowed to bring items for personal use. The hours run long, and the core drama centers on the intrigues, conflicts, and daily challenges that come with life in the camp.
personal items
During another segment of the Telecinco broadcast, the discussion turned to the personal items issued to each contestant. Some of the more controversial items were stuffed animals, which left the panelists puzzled about their practical value in a survival setting. Other personal care items, such as a lipstick set carried by Miri and Claudia Martínez together with a hairbrush, are also under consideration as potential tools in the camp environment.
Lopez remarked, aroused by the brush being denied entry, that she would never head into a challenge without certain tokens. She recalled that she was discouraged from bringing a religious keepsake, a small pendant, and noted that others were allowed to wear simple jewelry during tests. One example shared was a necklace worn by Ángel, which was not permitted during trials. She also explained that she had to relinquish a raincoat to gain access to the item she wanted.
Looking ahead, she noted that if asked to participate in another survival-focused reality show, a towel would be a practical purchase for drying off, lying on it, and staying warm when needed.
Similarly, she mentioned that a toothbrush is provided by the show as part of the personal care kit.
Fishing
Regarding fishing, Marta López explained that there is less iodine in the water and skin stays less dry, but goggles are indispensable. Without a hook, goggles, or any basic gear, fishing simply cannot happen, she emphasized.
During the current season, two new contestants, Laura Matamoros and Kiko Jiménez, arrived to surprise the cast by attempting to steal from them. The survivors remain unaware of the newcomers’ identities, wandering the island in search of what was taken. In the chaos, there is little time to recover lost items or understand what is happening.
López added that fishing is not a constant option; it depends on the presence of divers who regulate the activity. The crew reportedly explored an unconventional method—placing a hedgehog in a box to attract fish—but the governing team did not approve this approach, limiting improvisation in the fishing process.
Gain weight in Survivors
On the topic of weight changes during the competition, Joaquín Prat asked Marta about her approach to the held-out diet and exercise. She shared that several people urged her not to gain weight to allow the stomach to adjust. Yet she managed to gain around seven to eight kilos and felt unusually strong as a result. She noted she regained energy and reserves throughout the challenge, while also losing about thirteen kilos in a single month as part of a different phase of the competition.
