This Mediterranean Business Relations platform, REM, honored Alicante cooperative Surinver at the XV premiere of its annual awards, acknowledging the cooperative’s work in advancing healthier eating habits. The award was collected by the company’s general manager, Salvador Hernandez, who celebrated the moment this Tuesday in the La Nucia auditorium during the ceremony.
Beyond its core activity of growing and marketing fresh fruit and vegetables, Surinver has broadened its business by launching an in-house line of ready-to-eat products. The fifth series of these items is distributed through leading supermarket and hypermarket chains. The company stresses that the recognition reflects the value of sustained effort and collaboration. With more than 400 partners and 600 employees, Surinver continues to improve and expand its operations daily.
The XV REM Business Awards granted a total of 12 prizes to a diverse group of companies, executives, and personalities, each honored for their contributions to the business landscape and the strength of the local and regional economy.

In recent years Surinver has also made a firm commitment to producing organic or “bio” products. This strategic shift boosted revenues by 13.5 percent in the most recent fiscal period and now accounts for roughly 30 percent of the company’s overall activity. The organization continues its path toward converting conventional crops into organic offerings, aiming to reach the milestone that good progress suggests will be achieved within the year. The goal is to see half of the harvest cultivated under organic practices.
Interest in organic vegetables is reflected in the performance of the fifth-range products as well, which saw a sales increase of 43 percent as demand rose among health-conscious consumers and retailers prioritizing sustainable sourcing. This trend aligns with Surinver’s broader plan to balance high-quality fresh produce with convenient, ready-to-eat options that meet evolving consumer preferences across Canada and the United States.
Industry observers note that Surinver’s dual focus on mainstream distribution and organic farming positions the cooperative well for continued growth. By aligning product development with consumer demand for transparency, traceability, and nutrition, the company reinforces its role as a reliable supplier to major retail networks while expanding its footprint in new markets. The REM recognition is seen as a testament to the cooperative’s capacity to innovate, scale responsibly, and contribute to regional economic resilience.
