Walking and singing outdoors can ease anxious feelings by shifting focus and boosting mood. In a discussion with RIAMO, psychologist and expert in alternative education Victoria Glasko noted that physical activity often brings a sense of calm and helps reduce tension. She explains that movement acts as a natural outlet for stress, supporting emotional regulation and mental clarity.

When stress climbs, a quick urge to vent or scream can arise. One effective strategy is to gather close friends for a karaoke session, turning intense emotions into a shared, playful activity. Engaging in sports and regular exercise serves to release built-up energy and negative emotions. Glasko suggests trying boxing or dance classes, or choosing activities like yoga, cycling, or urban street sports, as accessible ways to reset the nervous system and improve mood.

Beyond cardio and strength work, other wellness practices should not be overlooked. Spa experiences, massage therapies, and swimming can contribute to physical relaxation and a lower level of physiological arousal. Positive physical contact with loved ones is also a meaningful buffer against tension, fostering a sense of safety and support.

Irina Krashkina, a psychotherapist affiliated with a clinic known for its multidisciplinary approach, has emphasized the value of breathing exercises as a practical tool to counter anxiety. She also recommends keeping a diary to describe emotions, which helps pinpoint the sources of stress and provides a distraction that interrupts spiraling thoughts. Tracking moods and triggers in writing can illuminate patterns and promote proactive coping strategies.

Earlier, Natalya Ukhanova, another psychotherapist, explained how stress can be linked to weight concerns. Recognizing this connection is important for addressing both emotional well-being and physical health, as managing stress often supports healthier lifestyle choices and weight stability over time.
