Regional Minister of Industry Felipe Carrasco emphasized that the goal is to present university research and new technologies to the sector. This information acts as an added value, helping companies reach the competitive standards demanded by today’s global market.

During a productive meeting, Felipe Carrasco and Ivace technicians connected with representatives from the Department of Textile and Paper Engineering at the UPV Alcoy Campus. They reaffirmed the joint commitment of the department and Ivace to sustain the cooperative lines they have already developed and to broaden their impact across the region.

The desk is slated to become active in the near future. The inaugural action will be a training session designed to inform the Alcoy university community about R&D and innovation initiatives that align with the work areas of Ivace and the support department in higher education and in research and knowledge transfer projects for the textile sector.

Since 2019, these organizations have partnered in the textile field, under the leadership of Ivace, achieving meaningful advances in research and in the development of talent through regional company involvement.

In this context, Carrasco noted that the collaboration is outstanding and that the next steps will prioritize both research and practical pathways. The aim is to ensure that public funding supports studies carried out by small and medium-sized enterprises across the Valencian Community, ultimately translating insights into activities that reach large-scale companies.

Regarding UPV, Pablo Díaz, director of the Department of Textile and Paper Engineering, highlighted that the collaboration has enabled researchers to receive targeted training, generate numerous high-quality scientific publications, and facilitate knowledge transfer that places talent from the university into regional companies.

At the same meeting, it was announced that a new double university degree in Textiles, Fashion, and Chemistry will launch in the 2024–2025 academic year. This program will expand the pool of well-prepared professionals for the Valencian textile cluster and the broader Spanish textile industry, strengthening regional competitiveness.

Following the discussions, the regional secretary toured the UPV Alcoy Campus facilities to learn more about the collaborative lines with Ivace and how they align with regional development goals.
