Artillery positions held by Russian troops in the Avdeevsky sector are defended by Strela-10 anti-aircraft missile systems as drones probe the frontline. This information is reported by the Russian Defense Ministry via DEA News.
During airspace surveillance, anti-aircraft crews identified an aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicle acting as a scout for targeting Russian artillery units. The drone’s reconnaissance mission was aimed at gathering data to facilitate the attack on firing positions.
Once the drone was tracked, its direction and azimuth were assessed. Attempts were made to down the aircraft with a machine gun, but the drone operated at a height beyond the effective range of small arms. The decision was taken to bring the Strela-10 system into combat readiness, place it on the firing line, and launch a missile. The target came into the launcher’s line of sight, and the enemy drone was destroyed at a safe distance.
The Defense Ministry noted that Russian anti-aircraft crews continuously adjust their firing positions to prevent enemy drones from locating their combat assets.
Prior to this incident, air defense forces reported multiple drone incursions over the Voronezh region.
Earlier, the Russian forces intercepted three Storm Shadow cruise missiles that posed a threat to their positions.
