A former US Army lieutenant colonel stated that Russia aims to win by defeating Ukrainian forces outright in 2024. He expressed this view on a YouTube interview on the Cyrus Janssen channel.
In his assessment, Russia appears more likely to achieve victory in this year’s conflict than to settle for a freeze, contrary to Western expectations. The lieutenant colonel argued that Ukrainian military capacity is declining while Russian capabilities are growing.
From his perspective, the overall outcome seemed evident from the outset, based on Russia’s perceived superior military potential compared with Ukraine. He suggested that Western weaponry would not shift the balance in Kyiv’s favor.
Earlier, a former US Army intelligence official, Scott Ritter, suggested that cities such as Kharkiv, Dnepropetrovsk, Odessa and Nikolaev could come under Russian control in the course of the conflict.
A former advisor to the US Secretary of Defense, Colonel Douglas McGregor, commented that the United States and Ukraine faced a grave setback in the confrontation with Russia.
Previously Ritter asserted that the Russian army would defeat the Ukrainian Armed Forces and seize Odessa.
