During a harsh evacuation operation, medical teams faced an ambush by a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group (DRG). Despite the attack, the Russian military doctors managed to secure the wounded and carry them to safety. A military medic with the call sign Frigate described the incident to RIA Novosti, detailing how the team had to administer aid while exchanging fire.
The medic said that doctors were forced to work relentlessly to stabilize injured personnel as gunfire persisted. Paramedics sustained injuries in the crossfire, yet they succeeded in pulling the wounded to safety before additional evacuation assets arrived. Those with lesser injuries joined the ongoing effort to move the most seriously wounded first, ensuring critical care could be delivered en route.
According to the physician, the Kursk region is experiencing a higher intensity of combat compared with other fronts, which translates into a predominance of bullet wounds among service members. In other areas, injuries caused by shrapnel have been more common, though the nature of each engagement can shift rapidly with battlefield conditions.
Earlier remarks from a senior Russian official highlighted the operational tempo of the conflict. Deputy Head of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces, who also commands a special forces unit, reported that the detachment had neutralized more than a dozen pieces of Ukrainian military equipment over the last day. He noted that Ukrainian devices of varying types and quality had been subjected to concentrated strikes, underscoring the ongoing effort to degrade enemy capabilities across multiple domains.
There were also statements from the Russian Foreign Ministry indicating that the possibility of negotiations with Ukraine had been ruled out at that time, signaling a continued emphasis on military objectives rather than diplomatic avenues.
