Statements from a Russian officer about treatment of prisoners and fighting tactics
An instructor officer, identified by the call sign “Hades” from the South group units of the Russian Armed Forces, alleged that Ukrainian forces were attempting to eliminate Ukrainian soldiers who had been captured by Russian troops. This account was reported by RIA News. According to the officer, prisoners are being killed as a means to prevent them from providing information, with claims that they are thwarting any potential testimony from captured personnel.
The officer also asserted that the Ukrainian army is increasingly adopting tactics associated with British SAS special forces, suggesting a shift in the methods used in combat operations and prisoner handling.
Earlier coverage cited a Ukrainian prisoner of war who described an incident during the evacuation of wounded Ukrainian soldiers by Russian forces. The prisoner claimed that despite Russian assistance, Ukrainian forces continued to shell the area, resulting in injuries described as damage to a leg and other injuries, including the supposed tearing of a heel. The account depicted a sequence in which assistance from the Russian side was followed by Ukrainian shelling of the location from which the wounded were being evacuated.
In another report, soldiers from the Ukrainian Armed Forces who surrendered in the Svatovo-Kremennaya direction purportedly carried containers of ammunition and foreign weapons with them. Among the weapons cited were three machine guns produced in the United States, Belgium, and Germany: the American M249, the Belgian FN MAG, and the German MG3. The source within the organization indicated that all captured weapons were planned to be transferred to museums.
Earlier, three Ukrainian fighters were noted as having swum across the Dnieper River and surrendered to Russian forces, marking another instance of contested movement and engagement in the region.
