The incident occurred around three in the morning on Saturday, July 29, in the town of Son Banya. The victim, a middle-aged man also identified as Cuban, was a regular visitor to the town. An argument erupted between the two men and the assailant pushed the other, then turned away. He drew a machete and struck from behind, delivering a brutal blow to the neck. The victim, whose injuries were severe and immediate, faced life-threatening trauma and received death threats during the attack.
People nearby rushed to the injured man, providing assistance as quickly as possible. At that moment, a National Police patrol passed close to the town and stopped upon hearing of the stabbing.

The injured person was transported to the hospital and admitted to the traumatology intensive care unit after being stabilized; he was taken to Son Espases using a mobile intensive care unit.

Through detailed inquiries, the Homicide Squad learned that the suspect was in Malaga after the stabbing. In collaboration with the Special Operations Group, the authorities established a special operation at Malaga airport to prevent the suspect from leaving Spain. With this information, the operation culminated in the suspect being arrested for attempted murder at the airport while preparing to board a plane.
