The government, together with several autonomous communities such as Asturias, the Canary Islands, Navarra, the Valencian Community, Castilla y León, Madrid, Andalusia and Ceuta, will advance the construction of 2,846 residences on public land intended for social or affordable rent, leveraging European funds for these projects. The initiative reflects a coordinated effort to expand affordable living options across multiple regions and to accelerate social housing programs that align with national housing goals and European support mechanisms. This is the outcome of the agreements signed this Tuesday between the listed autonomous communities and the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda, chaired by Raquel Sánchez, who heads the ministry. These agreements set the framework for public housing development and neighborhood improvement across diverse municipalities within these regions, highlighting a shared commitment to improving housing access for families and individuals in need, with a clear emphasis on energy efficiency and long-term affordability.
