Spain sees uptick in road fatalities this summer amid record long-distance travel

there was a small but noticeable uptick in fatalities among vulnerable road users. a total of 98 deaths involved pedestrians, cyclists or motorcyclists, five more than in 2022, making up 42% of all summer deaths. compared with last year, the number of women killed on the road increased as well, with 58 more cases this year, 15 more than the previous summer, accounting for 25% of the total fatalities.
