Another cold front has arrived in Spain
The country is bracing for a sharp drop in temperatures as a new cold air mass pushes in from Europe’s interior. Meteorologist Mario Picazo notes that the pattern is driven by a high-pressure system anchored near the British Isles, guiding frigid air southward.
North and northeast winds will keep temperatures stubbornly low across many regions. Precipitation is expected to accompany the chill from northern Galicia to the Pyrenees, climbing into the upper Ebro basin and the northern faces of the major mountain ranges.
Despite the cold, the weather picture should calm a bit by the end of the week. Forecasters will monitor potential Atlantic fronts that could reach Galicia over the coming weekend, signaling a new round of unsettled conditions.
Frost is forecast to intensify in some inland areas, with sub-zero readings and several locations anticipating frosts reaching double digits in the high coastal and mountain valleys. Picazo highlights that some Cantabrian cities may experience single-digit daytime highs.
On the southern edge of the peninsula, milder conditions are expected in Ceuta, Melilla, and the Canary Islands, though temperatures are not expected to become truly warm.
