Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov, together with Lieutenant General Alexander Matovnikov, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Ground Forces, and Moscow region military commissar Alexei Astakhov, visited the military unit to review how the regiment from the Moscow Region is being assembled. The visit was reported by the regional government press service.
The unit is described as an elite formation created to carry out high-priority combat tasks. It is planned to include more than two thousand officers, warrant officers, and enlisted personnel, with some members assigned to service in hot spots. Recruitment for the Moscow Region regiment began in late October.
Vorobyov explained that each volunteer would receive a payment of one million rubles. In addition, personnel would benefit from credit holidays, property tax exemptions, protections during legal proceedings, and safeguarding of their jobs.
According to Vorobyov, the regiment sought a commander with proven combat experience and officers who deeply understand the nuances of military affairs. The aim is to build a combat-ready unit capable of performing its missions effectively. The governor noted that serious and thorough preparations were already in place.
Vorobyov added that support for the region had existed previously, but the Moscow Region regiment now operates under special oversight. He stressed empowerment and ongoing coordination, and he disclosed that he had spoken with the regiment’s commander directly.
He emphasized the importance of staying connected with the families of the soldiers, recognizing there are many delicate issues in this line of work. A continual dialogue with those close to the troops is essential. He expressed gratitude to the soldiers for their willingness to serve and said the aim is for them to return home safely, victorious.
Currently, volunteers for the regiment are undergoing initial training in the Moscow region. Instructors with combat experience lead the courses. Beyond the motorized rifle unit in the Moscow region, many personnel are receiving education at training centers, including mechanics and gunners, among others.
Those completing recruitment in the Moscow region will move to the training grounds for exercises with heavy equipment and weapons. After finishing the combat coordination phase, the Moscow Region regiment is planned to proceed to the Northern Military District area to carry out its assigned missions.
