Hotta Studio, in collaboration with Distributor Level Infinite, has unveiled a targeted window for the next major expansion of the popular open-world free-to-play online RPG. Fans of Tower of Fantasy can expect a substantial update titled The Sound of the Sea, with a rollout beginning May 11. This expansion opens the sea’s dark and perilous depths to explorers, inviting nomads to venture into the newly accessible deep sea caves of a region known as the Black Source.

In this update, players will need stronger gear as they face intense underwater pressure upon entering the Dark Fountain. New puzzle challenges are on the table, including two confirmed missions: Trapped Patrol Guard and Idle Security Guard. These tasks push players to think strategically while navigating hazardous environments.
The Sound of the Sea introduces a fresh mechanic: the Dimension, where difficulty scales not with the nomad’s level but with the ongoing challenges of the environment. This design choice intensifies enemy strength and heightens risk, while also unlocking exclusive rewards for solving puzzles and discovering hidden chests. A notable addition is Nakya, a colossal world boss presented as a crimson spider-skeleton, known as the Abysser, which promises a demanding boss encounter for seasoned teams.
New physical Simulacrum
The update also brings a new physical Simulacrum, named Gnonno. Created by Hotta Studio with inspiration from his grandfather Nuok, who helped lead the expedition that uncovered the Innars, Gnonno aspires to be a fearless explorer. His reputation is wild and sometimes troublesome, yet his intimate knowledge of the seas makes him a valuable guide. Years ago, a promise to a friend led them to an expedition—only Gnonno returned. That mystery fuels his drive, and it’s clear he has gained the power to summon a peculiar octopus-like creature and command its tentacles. He carries a weapon known as The Miniature Whirlwind, a signature element detailed by Hotta Studio’s creatives. This story thread and the new content are available in the free-to-play game across Android, iOS, GeForce Now, and Microsoft Windows platforms.
