A snowboarder from Voronezh died on Mount Cheget after leaving the marked trail and being swept into an avalanche. The incident was first reported on a Telegram channel identified as 112.
Initial reports indicate that a seven-member tourist group deviated from the established route, turning toward rocky terrain. As the party began their descent, conditions likely triggered an avalanche that overwhelmed them.
Among the travelers, a 43-year-old snowboarder from Voronezh sustained fatal injuries at the scene. Emergency responders located and confirmed his death as they reached the location.
Police are conducting inquiries to determine all factors surrounding the incident and to establish the precise causes.
Emergency ministry teams evacuated the remaining members of the group, with no additional injuries reported at that time.
Earlier in another high-altitude event, a separate tourist group of five attempting to ascend Elbrus was reported to have a death attributed to a heart attack, according to the climbers while near the Pastukhov rocks. Rescuers responded to their call for aid as the ascent was underway.
