The Sheremetyevo press service announced that major Chinese air carriers have restored their presence at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport, with six carriers now operating there. The information was shared by DEA News and underscores a recovery in transcontinental air connectivity that many travelers have awaited.
Among the carriers back in service are China Eastern Airlines, Sichuan Airlines, and Beijing Capital Airlines, all resuming routes from several Chinese cities directly to Sheremetyevo. The announcement noted that from February 21 to February 26, 2023, these large Chinese airlines relaunched the service on distinct city-to-Moscow corridors, signaling renewed business and leisure travel opportunities linking China with Russia’s capital hub.
The press briefing highlighted that the broader group of six Chinese airlines now flying to Sheremetyevo includes Hainan Airlines, Air China, and China Southern Airlines. During February the operating frequencies increased noticeably: Air China expanded from a single weekly flight to seven weekly flights, while Hainan Airlines grew from one weekly flight to two. This uptick reflects a stronger demand pattern and a more robust schedule that provides improved options for passengers seeking direct connections between China and Moscow.
Additionally, it was reported that Fly Arna, the Armenian carrier, had previously initiated direct services to Sheremetyevo from Yerevan. Service from Zvartnots International Airport began in January, with the airline offering four weekly flights to the capital’s airport. These flights contribute to a broader regional network, enabling easier access to Moscow for travelers from the South Caucasus and neighboring markets, while also supporting business and tourism ties across the region.
