A gas explosion shook a residential building in the city of Shakhty, located in the Rostov region, injuring one person. This information comes from the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergencies for the Rostov Region, as reported by TASS.

Initial findings indicate that on February 24, 2023, at 15:10 Moscow time, a release of air-gas mixture occurred inside an apartment on the second floor on Obraztsova Street in Shakhty. The blast shattered the room’s windows and damaged the front door. Observers noted that the building’s load-bearing walls remained standing and there was no ensuing fire.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and provided aid to the 45-year-old resident of the apartment. She sustained burns to her hands and face but chose not to be taken to a medical facility at that moment.

To fully address the incident and ensure public safety, a total of 23 responders and eight units of equipment were deployed to the site.

Earlier, there was a separate but related incident in Vologda where a fire forced the collapse of a shawarma stall named “Fire.” This incident illustrates how explosions and related hazards can have ripple effects across nearby structures and businesses.
