A serious incident of abuse involving a caregiver and elderly patients occurred at a hospital in France, according to reports from Europe 1.
Reports indicate that the events unfolded in the northwestern suburbs of Paris, at a facility in Argenteuil. A man was seen leaving the room of a 93-year-old patient who had mental health challenges. Later, traces of semen were found on the patient’s bed sheets. Within hours, the patient suffered a heart attack and could not be revived by medical staff.
The security team promptly detained a 44-year-old individual accused of sexually assaulting the patient. At this stage, it remains unclear whether the patient’s death is directly linked to the assault, and authorities have not yet conducted an autopsy to determine a causal relationship.
Coinciding with these events, another elderly woman in the same hospital reportedly suffered harm attributed to the detainee. Preliminary information indicates that a 95-year-old resident was assaulted when an intruder entered her room, touched her, and allegedly raped her before leaving the scene.
The person in custody is known to police for connections to other sexual assaults. The investigation into these incidents is ongoing, with authorities pursuing further leads and gathering evidence.
A former nursing home resident was reportedly raped, and there are accounts of an 80-year-old disabled neighbor who previously provided care at issue, though these further details require verification as the case unfolds.
