In Sevastopol, a 55-year-old man was detained after authorities say he was cultivating prohibited plants in his garden. The incident was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs Media, which described a tip received by local police about illegal plant growth on a private plot.
According to the ministry, officers arrived at the scene and conducted a thorough inspection of the area. They discovered 13 suspicious bushes that the resident had tried to conceal with a camouflage net. The scene raised immediate concerns about illegal cultivation, prompting further action by law enforcement to secure the site and document the findings for the investigation.
The plants were seized and sent for laboratory analysis. The results confirmed that the bushes were cannabis. Investigative materials relating to the resident, tied to the administrative offense statute, are being prepared for submission to the court for formal consideration and potential adjudication.
Earlier concerns about hemp cultivation also emerged in the region. It was noted that the individual previously maintained a greenhouse dedicated to hemp. Police reports indicate that he operated a rented dwelling within a cooperative and had grown 177 bushes of the plant on that property, revealing a pattern of deliberate cultivation on multiple sites.
In a related update, authorities clarified that if hemp bushes were subsequently found to be stolen, such items were returned to their rightful owner. The ongoing case continues to be reviewed by relevant legal authorities to determine appropriate charges and penalties according to applicable laws.
