Unemployment creates real hurdles, especially when job opportunities require more than just a solid education. The labor market is in flux, and that volatility is precisely why many people find themselves seeking work even after acquiring relevant skills. Public employment services have stepped in to help, launching several initiatives designed to boost job seekers’ readiness and competitiveness in the marketplace.
Among these efforts, the State Public Employment Service (BASKET) partnered with the State Employment Training Foundation (Fundae) to offer accessible, freely available online training. These programs aim to equip job seekers with practical skills and credible credentials that can open doors in today’s job environment.
SEPE training course
With strong demand for tech-focused roles, this course shows a high level of employability. Free trainings are available on the online platform known as ‘Go Digital,’ and the program is officially titled ‘Design and User Experience (UX) Certificate.’ The SEPE page describes user experience designers as professionals who optimize how users interact with products like websites, apps, and even physical devices. This emphasis on user-centric design is a cornerstone of modern digital work.
SEPE course program
The primary aim of the course is to study how students, as designers, interact with interfaces to make user experiences smoother, more useful, and accessible. Participants explore ideas, conduct research, and develop wireframes and prototypes to solve real user problems. The course places a heavy emphasis on practical outcomes, ensuring students can apply what they learn to day-to-day business needs.
Participants walk through a hands-on curriculum designed to prepare them for a professional setting. The structure centers on delivering tangible skills so that graduates can operate effectively in real-world projects from day one:
-
Follow the design process to complete three projects
-
Engage in ongoing work using Figma and Adobe XD
-
Develop soft skills essential for success in design: communication, teamwork, and presenting ideas
Google course no experience required
The question many ask is whether prior experience is necessary. The answer is no—no previous work background is required to join the course. However, for the Google-Fundae scholarship, two basic requirements apply: the participant must be at least 18 years old and reside in Spain. Priority is given to the unemployed or those affected by ERTE or ERE, and efforts are made to reach 50% female participation.
The program spans about 120 hours and is entirely online and practical. Depending on a student’s dedication, completion can occur in roughly three to six months. To receive the certificate and enter the professional world, participants must successively complete several sections:
-
Fundamentals of User Experience (UX) design
-
Initiating the UX design process: Empathize, Define, Ideate
-
Creation of wireframes and low-fidelity prototypes
-
Conducting UX research and testing initial concepts
-
Creating high-quality designs and prototypes in Figma
-
Responsive web design in Adobe XD
-
Preparation for design and user experience studies for social benefit
