The Second Division of the Regional Court of the Balearic Islands is preparing to hold a preliminary hearing on Friday, November 17, at 9:30 am, involving a man accused of sexually abusing two minors aged seven and ten. The prosecutor seeks a 12-year prison sentence for the defendant.
According to the prosecutor, the alleged incidents took place on September 5, 2020, at a farm in the town of Santa Eugenia where the suspect had been invited as a guest. The case alleges that the man approached the ten-year-old girl in a manner that suggested he sought privacy and used physical proximity to press the girl into following him to a different area. Once in the kitchen, the complainant alleges that the defendant engaged in touching actions that violated the minor’s boundaries, prompting the girl to leave the room.
The prosecutor also contends that the defendant directed the seven-year-old girl to locate the bathroom and then persuaded her to accompany him. It is alleged that the man removed his clothing and engaged in inappropriate conduct, which the child resisted and moved away from. The proceedings describe further that the defendant entered the room again, causing additional inappropriate contact with the seven-year-old as she attempted to protect her own privacy.
In its assessment, the public prosecution argues that these events constitute a serious offense of sexual abuse involving minors. The requested penalties include six years of imprisonment for each crime, a 10-year ban on approaching and communicating with minors, and a conviction that encompasses both offenses as continuous in nature. Additionally, the defendant would be liable for financial compensation, with 30,000 euros sought for each minor to address the psychological and moral harm endured.
