A member of the citizen security patrol was the first to locate the lifeless remains as the operation entered its tenth day.
Judicial Police and Civil Guard technicians conducted meticulous on the ground examinations to gather initial evidence. At this stage the authorities indicated that the body had not yet been exhumed, and a formal autopsy would be carried out to establish the identity of the missing person and determine the exact cause of death. The autopsy will be performed at the Cáceres Institute of Legal Medicine to provide reliable confirmation of whether the person found corresponds to the missing La Cumbre resident, according to statements from the Civil Guard.
