Emergency responders in the Kursk region uncovered a warhead associated with a Patriot anti-aircraft missile system. This finding was reported through official channels of the Ministry of Emergency Situations via Telegram, detailing the sequence of events and the authorities involved.
According to the report, the explosive device was located by the department’s specialized pyrotechnic team. Their task was to neutralize the threat, and they completed this mission successfully, ensuring the surrounding area was rendered safe.
The ministry’s bulletin highlights that 314 explosive devices have been destroyed since the start of the operation, and a total of 24 hectares of land have undergone inspection for potential hazards.
Further, the Kursk regional rescue teams, supported by public institutions, have been delivering essential medical supplies and swimming equipment to military personnel in the region. In addition, protective vests and life jackets were distributed to soldiers of the Russian Armed Forces to bolster safety in challenging conditions.
On August 31, authorities in the Kursk region reported the discovery of submunitions from a cluster munition launched by the HIMARS multiple launch rocket system. Pyrotechnic teams with the Russian Emergencies Ministry promptly destroyed these components to prevent harm to local residents.
The day prior, reports indicated that six explosive devices discharged from drones operated by the Armed Forces of Ukraine were neutralized in the same area. One munition, however, landed on the roof of a private residence, prompting additional safety measures and decontamination work.
Earlier developments included accusations from the Ukrainian armed forces concerning indiscriminate attacks on civilians within the Kursk region, underscoring the ongoing volatility and the safety concerns faced by residents and responders alike.
