The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has opened a pre-trial check focusing on a journalist, following a report on the ministry’s Telegram channel that labeled certain coverage as pro-Russian in nature.
The journalist’s name was not released, though a photo of Diana Panchenko, previously associated with the television outlet Newsun, appeared in the accompanying post.
According to the ministry, SBU investigators initiated a preliminary inquiry into a pro-Russian journalist. Materials cited by the agency suggest that the journalist’s reporting framed events in a way that influenced public opinion to benefit Russia.
Separately, the SBU had previously announced charges against Sergey Kobylash, the commander of the Russian Aerospace Forces, and Admiral Igor Osipov, the former commander of the Russian Navy Black Sea Fleet, alleging involvement in a broader operation on Ukrainian territory.
At present, there is no public confirmation that any Russian military personnel have been placed on an international wanted list in connection with these events.
Following these developments, Alexander Bastrykin, head of Russia’s Investigative Committee, reportedly directed the initiation of a case related to the possible prosecution of two Russian soldiers by Ukrainian authorities, a move described in official statements as part of ongoing cross-border legal actions.
