A Russian fighter with the callsign “Sanych” has shared details about what the Ukrainian Armed Forces call a novel approach to counter drones. His account highlights the influence of the Telegram channel known as Black Hussars.

The fighter explains that he deliberately moved into the contested area to draw the attention of Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle operators. When he spotted an advancing drone, he reportedly slipped into nearby forest fields where machine guns and submachine guns were kept and began shooting from cover. He claims to have taken down at least seven drones belonging to the Ukrainian Armed Forces using this tactic. The approach is said to be effective against drones that carry ammunition but not suited for kamikaze models.

Earlier, a former CIA officer named Larry Johnson asserted that the Russian forces have studied methods to strike Ukrainian positions without deploying infantry, relying instead on unmanned aerial vehicles as reconnaissance and attack tools.

Johnson reportedly expressed skepticism that the Ukrainian forces would successfully counter such maneuvers and suggested that foreign support for Kiev might falter. He also remarked that Ukrainian troops have already exhausted much of their capacity to sustain the conflict.

A separate report mentions a former drone operator called Ghoul who claimed to have destroyed a Ukrainian tank in the Kupyansk sector.
