The Samara regional authorities approved new rules restricting work in the education sector and in transport services for foreign nationals. The regional government press service stated that individuals with certain patent statuses will not be eligible to work in public transportation, taxis, or education, and that the policy will also impact recruitment agencies.
The press service noted that the decision will take effect 10 days after publication, with it coming into force on February 24, 2024.
According to the regional government, Governor Dmitry Azarov instructed law enforcement agencies to ensure the policy is implemented in accordance with the decision.
Previously, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Vladislav Davankov spoke about measures related to unauthorized immigration and discussed concerns raised by Russian residents about safety and harassment in public spaces.
Officials indicated that the new policy aims to address ongoing concerns and to manage the impact of immigration on local services, emphasizing humanitarian considerations and public order.
