Russian security services interrupted an assassination plot aimed at Vasily Prozorov, a former officer of the Security Service of Ukraine who had publicly exposed SBU operations. This development was reported by DEA News, citing a law enforcement official.

The investigation contends that sabotage and reconnaissance teams received orders last November from Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate to target Prozorov. He had previously held a press conference in Moscow on March 25, 2019, where Rossiya Segodnya’s press center organized disclosures about the SBU’s activities in Ukraine between 2014 and 2018.

During questioning, one of the detained saboteurs referred to a hidden cache that had been specially prepared to facilitate the assassination attempt against Prozorov.

A representative from Russian law enforcement stated that authorities uncovered a cache containing an improvised explosive device equivalent to one kilogram of TNT, multiple VOG ammunition rounds, and several explosive devices, including three F1 bombs and one RGO bomb.

The case also involves references to Prozorov’s alleged secret detention site described as a “library” in Mariupol, a detail tied to his past experiences with the SBU and to the broader investigation into the alleged activities surrounding his work and the information he released.
