Russians prefer Evpatoria, Zelenogradsk, and Sochi for family holidays, new survey shows
A recent survey conducted by the housing reservation service Sutochno.ru and cited by TASS reveals that Russians favor Evpatoria, Zelenogradsk, and Sochi as top destinations for family vacations. The findings reflect a clear preference for places that blend seaside appeal with family‑friendly amenities and a relaxed atmosphere suitable for all ages.
In the results, Evpatoria earned 18 percent of the vote as the best resort for family holidays, while Zelenogradsk and Sochi each attracted 17 percent. Rounding out the top ten were Anapa with 13 percent, Gelendzhik with 10 percent, Adler at 8 percent, Sirius with 5 percent, Solnechnogorsk at 4 percent, and 4 percent each for Makhachkala and Yeysk.
The survey also noted additional destinations considered suitable for family trips, including Derbent, Yalta, Sevastopol, Sudak, Gurzuf, Koreiz, and Alushta, highlighting a broad spectrum of coastal options across Russia.
The study gathered responses from 2.4 thousand participants, providing a meaningful snapshot of family travel preferences and how families weigh factors such as safety, access to beaches, activities for children, and value for money.
Yuri Kuznetsov, founder, owner and general manager of Sutochno.ru, commented that demand for resort holidays in Dagestan has risen in recent times, underscoring growing interest in lesser‑visited coastal areas that still offer robust tourist infrastructure.
He also noted dynamic growth in bookings for Kaliningrad region resorts, with Zelenogradsk and Svetlogorsk showing increases of roughly 60 percent over the previous year, signaling strong momentum in regional tourism and a widening geographic appeal for holidaymakers.
Earlier statements from the Region’s Ministry of Resorts, Tourism and Olympic Heritage urged travelers to consider the Kuban area as an alternative to the more crowded Anapa, especially during peak season, reflecting proactive efforts to distribute visitor demand more evenly along the coast.
Overall, the survey paints a picture of vibrant coastal travel within Russia, with families seeking affordable, scenic getaways that combine beachtime with accessible activities, while also revealing growing interest in regional destinations that offer good value without sacrificing comfort and convenience.
