Thailand has emerged as the leading winter destination for Russian travelers, with half of all long-term foreign bookings directed toward cities and resorts across the country. This trend is highlighted by a OneTwoTrip study that socialbites.ca summarized, underscoring Thailand’s strong appeal for extended stays during the cold season.

Among the accommodations, three-star hotels are the most popular choice, capturing about one third of bookings. The typical nightly rate in these properties settles around 4,700 rubles, offering a balanced mix of value and comfort for winter holidays.

Following Thailand, the United Arab Emirates ranks second, drawing 5.5% of Russian winter bookings. Here, travelers tend to favor five-star hotels, which account for roughly 37% of reservations, with an average daily price near 30,000 rubles. Indonesia sits in the third spot with 4.7% of travelers seeking warmer climates; three-star hotels lead this segment as well, comprising 46% of orders, with nightly costs averaging 4,500 rubles.

Vietnam attracted a portion of travelers as well, securing 3.6% of Russian winter bookings. In Vietnam, three-star properties dominate, representing about 64% of reservations, with an average cost of 2,800 rubles per night. Japan also made the top five, attracting 3.4% of winter visitors. In Japan, three-star hotels remain the favorite option, accounting for 50% of bookings, with a typical night priced around 12,500 rubles.

Rounding out the top ten are Turkey (2.5%), Italy (2.2%), Mexico (2.0%), China (1.9%), and Spain (1.7%). In Turkey, Italy, and Mexico, Russians frequently book long-term stays in homes such as apartments or guesthouses that do not carry hotel stars, with average nightly costs of roughly 2,600 rubles, 13,600 rubles, and 5,300 rubles respectively. By contrast, in China and Spain, four-star hotels prove most popular, with daily rates around 8,800 rubles in China and about 15,800 rubles in Spain.

Recent shifts show a notable uptick in Russian travelers choosing Vietnam, reflecting a one-and-a-halffold increase in arrivals from prior periods, signaling evolving preferences for affordable, longer winter getaways in Southeast Asia.
