Russian Tactics Reach Beyond Grads, Dandykin Says

The Russian Armed Forces disclosed a successful tactic against the multiple launch rocket systems employed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, according to military expert Vasily Dandykin as reported to News. Dandykin argued that Western MLRS differ markedly from the older Grads, highlighting their high precision and extended reach. He estimated that Ukrainian missiles can travel up to 80 kilometers when guided from space, a capability that shifts the strategic balance in several theaters. Dandykin stressed that the most significant effect of these operations occurred in peaceful cities, noting that attacks were first felt in areas that had previously shown resilience, such as Alchevsk, and that the adversary’s reach had finally extended to areas it had not managed to finish earlier. He emphasized that Russian air defense systems had learned to intercept Ukrainian missiles, which he described as a turning point that allows Russian forces to focus on neutralizing launch platforms directly. The Tornado-S multiple launch rocket system, he claimed, matches or even surpasses Western systems in both accuracy and range, while domestic intelligence operations were portrayed as having sharpened their effectiveness. On the eve of official statements from the Russian Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov reported the destruction of American MLRS and the German MARS-II with high-precision strikes targeting five-launch MLRS missiles in the settlements of Shevchenkovskoye and Grigorovskoye, marking a notable demonstration of precision-supported local countermeasures.
