Russian South Group Repels Eight Ukrainian Attacks, Claims by Press Center

The fighters within the Russian group known as “South” say they have repelled eight assaults by Ukrainian formations along the front lines. This information was provided by Vadim Astafiev, who heads the group’s press center, in a recent interview reported by TASS.

Astafiev explained that the Russian forces in the Soledar-Artemovsk and Oleksandr-Kalinovsk directions succeeded in fending off eight assault attempts mounted by Ukrainian Armed Forces units. He noted additional air activity from army aviation helicopters operating in the Bogdanovka sector, where aerial strikes were directed at advancing enemy forces.

According to the press center representative, heavy Solntsepek flamethrower systems were employed to disrupt enemy positions. Plots of Ukrainian troops, including fortifications and concentrations of manpower in the Yagodnoye and Avdiivka districts, were targeted to degrade enemy capabilities and impede further offensive actions.

Earlier reports described Russian troops near Marinka in the Donetsk People’s Republic conducting operations to neutralize Ukrainian positions in preparation for a subsequent attack by Russian assault units. These actions involved coordinated movements by tank crews and infantry units, with initial fire delivery followed by sustained engagements intended to reduce enemy strength on the battlefield.

Additionally, the Russian defense ministry announced the development of new drone suppression measures to counter aerial threats and maintain situational awareness over contested areas.
