The Russian military reported a successful defense against a Ukrainian Armed Forces breakthrough in the Krasnolimansky direction, according to a release from the Russian Ministry of Defense via its official channels. The briefing outlined that Ukrainian units, supported by armored fighting vehicles and pickup trucks assigned to the 21st and 63rd mechanized brigades, launched an assault on Russian positions near the settlements of Yampolovka and Torskoye.
Russian forces answered with precise artillery support and aerial coordination from the Central group of troops. The counterattack halted the campaign at multiple points, forcing the Ukrainian units to withdraw while sustaining notable losses in both equipment and personnel. In the counter-battery phase, Russian artillery targeted and destroyed a 152 mm Msta-B howitzer as well as three Ukrainian mortar positions, reducing enemy firepower in the zone of operations.
The ministry also stated that Russian aviation contributed to the defense by eliminating two enemy strongholds. Additionally, crews operating Strela-10 air defense systems reported downing a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle near the village of Golikovo, further diminishing enemy reconnaissance and air activity in the area.
