Russian Forces Foil Ukrainian Drone Attack on Russian Territory, Aug 25

Russian troops intercepted an attempted drone strike by Ukrainian forces targeting objects inside Russia. This was confirmed by the Russian Ministry of Defense. The agency says the attack occurred on August 25 around 12:00 Moscow time and involved an aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicle. The drone was detected and captured by on duty air defense over the Babyninsky district in the Kaluga region, according to the ministry’s statement. The Kaluga regional governor, Vladislav Shapsha, later reported that the drone was destroyed. He noted that there were no casualties and no damage to infrastructure. The president’s press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, previously addressed questions from journalists about the rising frequency of drone attacks on Russian territory, stating that air defences are effectively countering such threats. A system for suppressing drones has been developed and deployed in Russia to enhance defense capabilities against unmanned threats.
