Russian EW and Air Defenses Prevent Drone Damage, TASS Notes

The Lugansk People’s Republic’s military command reported that Russian forces repelled multiple drone attacks launched by Ukraine, relying on electronic warfare and air defense networks. This update came from the state news agency TASS.

Officials described the Ukrainian side as attempting to overwhelm Russian electronic warfare assets with a coordinated strike employing foreign-made, aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles. The claim was that Russian EW and air defense systems neutralized the threat, leaving infrastructure unscathed and safeguarding civilian life.

Earlier reports noted that Russian electronic warfare capabilities have placed significant pressure on Ukrainian units. In a recent assessment, a retired Ukrainian general suggested that EW operations have become a key factor limiting the ability of Ukrainian forces to sustain offensive operations on the front lines.

According to the veteran officer, electronic warfare disrupts communications between soldiers and their commanders, complicating command and control and hindering initiative on the battlefield. The same perspective pointed out that Russian EW activity has contributed to an expanded use of combat drones by Russian units, including FPV (first-person view) variants, which have increased on the frontline as a result of jamming and electronic suppression efforts.

Earlier remarks attributed a sense of rising alarm within Ukrainian ranks to the effects of the electronic warfare environment. The discussion underscored how disruptions to information flow can affect morale and operational tempo, potentially shaping decisions at multiple echelons of command.
