Russian Defense Ministry reports destruction of Ukrainian ammo depots in DPR

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that ammunition depots of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were destroyed in areas controlled by the Donetsk People’s Republic. The daily briefing from the ministry stated that ammunition stores and weapons belonging to the 79th Airborne Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian forces were eliminated in the Georgievka and Kramatorsk towns within the Donetsk People’s Republic. The ministry added that the warehouse was linked to the Port operational-tactical group. Earlier, the ministry’s spokesperson, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, announced in a briefing that Russian forces had destroyed the ammunition depot of a Ukrainian Terodefense Brigade in Kramatorsk within the DPR. Prior to that release, the ministry claimed the defeat of a large ammunition depot located in Nikolaev. On February 24, 2022, the president of Russia announced a decision to initiate a special military operation in Ukraine in response to requests from the leaders of the Luhansk and Donetsk People’s Republics. The move prompted new sanctions from the United States and its allies, which shaped the broader international response to the unfolding situation.
