Russian Defense Ministry reports air defenses intercept Ukrainian drones and weapons on border regions

On the night of March 15, unmanned aerial vehicles and missiles launched by the Armed Forces of Ukraine were reportedly destroyed over the Belgorod and Kaluga regions, according to the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The ministry noted that air defense forces on duty detected and shot down five UAVs and two BM-21 Grad MLRS missiles over the Belgorod and Kaluga regions, preventing further threat to the border areas and adjacent facilities.

Officials from the Ministry of Defense stated that this interception interrupted what was described as an attempted terrorist attack by Ukrainian forces on targets within the Russian Federation, and that the Russian military responded with anti-air measures to neutralize the threat.

Earlier reports indicated that Russian air defense units in the Kaluga region had neutralized four Ukrainian aircraft. In addition, air defense systems reportedly intercepted an unmanned aerial vehicle of the Armed Forces of Ukraine over the Oryol region, contributing to regional air security on that front.

There were prior claims that Ukrainian forces damaged households during shelling of a village in the Bryansk region, highlighting ongoing cross-border hostilities and their impact on civilian infrastructure in border areas.
