The Russian Ministry of Defense released a statement confirming that Ukrainian forces attempted to strike the Kursk region using an aircraft-type drone on the morning of September 25. The ministry added that mission air defense systems intercepted the drone on Kursk territory, and the claim was reported through Telegram channels following the incident.
Earlier that day, Kursk Mayor Igor Kutsak described damage from the Ukrainian drone attack, noting four vehicles and fifteen private residences sustained effects from the assault on the Russian city.
Officials also indicated that no civilian injuries occurred as a result of the operation conducted by Ukrainian forces.
In the morning, residents of Kursk reported hearing explosion-like sounds. Later, the regional governor, Roman Starovoit, clarified that a large wave of Ukrainian UAVs targeted the local administrative center, signaling a coordinated effort to strike municipal infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Russia has announced the development of a new drone suppression system designed to counter similar aerial threats and improve regional defense readiness.
