In recent reports from the Russian Ministry of Defense, air defense systems were credited with intercepting two unmanned aerial vehicles over the Kursk region. The ministry stated that the incident occurred around 17:30 Moscow time as part of a purported terrorist attack. Local authorities, including the Kursk regional governor, Roman Starovoyt, confirmed that air defense was active in the sky above Kursk during that period.

Earlier, on December 14, officials announced that Russian air defense systems shot down nine UAVs belonging to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in two Russian regions. The ministry’s statement claimed that Ukrainian aircraft-type UAVs were neutralized by air defense systems operating in the Moscow and Kaluga regions.

Additionally, Kaluga regional governor Vladislav Shapsha reported that an unmanned aerial vehicle was shot down by regional air defense systems, with the drone reported as downed in the Sukhinichi area.

There are indications from official channels that Russia is continuing to adapt its drone defense posture, including remarks about training drone operators within the country to bolster local counter-UAV capabilities. These developments come amid ongoing regional tensions and the broader context of drone activity in the region.
